I’ve been very much enchanted by the idea of the Lion and the Unicorn for about a year now, and thought it was high time I did something about it. The lion’s a bit scruffy, I might clean him up sometime, and lengthen his nose…

stygiantea asked: Hiya! Do you have a website of sorts with your works?

Hi!

I don’t have one yet, but I’m hoping to get one sometime in the near future :) For now though, I just post stuff here and on my deviantART, http://mcbaa.deviantart.com/

ihaveinformedyou asked: Austin Wintory used your picture in his video here: youtube/watch?v=qGcXI_BaR2Y (see from 10.20)

Oh wow! Thanks for letting me know :)

For one of my classes we’ve been tasked with creating characters for a game set in a typical apocalyptic wasteland. I’ve decided to make someone that would live on the outskirts of civilisation, a scavenger that relies on looking scary from a distance to avoid getting into fights (hence the wolf pelt). Here, she’s just chilling out after a hard day’s running away from things.

Sorry I’ve been a bit pants about posting art - the final year of uni is taking its toll and sucking all the creativity out of me. You’ll be swarmed with pictures soon enough.
Until then, have a mutant dog sculpt :D His name is Blanca, and he literally slobbers on things until they die (poisonous corrosive saliva for the win!)

Horned Dwarf, modelled and rendered in ZBrush using DynaMesh (which, by the way, is amazing. I am never ever going back to base models again), and composited in Photoshop for your ocular pleasure. These dwarves have strong, ivory-like growths all over their body, but most prominently around their faces. These facial horns are carved to represent the dwarf’s social status and profession - a highly decorated facial horn is, like, the sexiest thing ever to these guys. This one is a horn carver, and ranks pretty damn high on the social ladder.Original species, dunt steeel!

Restricting myself to one or two dwarves a day, so I don’t spam you with speedy dwarf paints.
This one is least accurate when compared to the photo (his eyes are a bit too big and soulful. At first I thought it was just because his eyes were too big, but now I think it’s all his features. Too much eyes and nose, not enough surrounding face), but you know what? I still like it :) Except his chin. That could’ve done with a bit more work…
Bombur is awesome. Eats everything, drinks everything, and basically does every dwarfy thing that was ever dwarfed. And his beard braid is well cool.

I’d hoped to get another dwarf done after this, but Bofur’s stupid clothes got in the way. Wool is awkward at the best of times, but that glove…ugh. It’s obvious that I didn’t know what to do with it. Just pretend it isn’t there, okay?I really like how the face turned out, though. I hope I managed to get across his cheeky grin :)Bofur’s easily one of the best dwarven characters in The Hobbit (movie version, anyways). Sometimes he doesn’t know when to shut up, and he’s not always the brightest of the bunch, but he’s got a good heart. Also his face is absolutely fantastic - it looks like it’s never seen a frown in all its life.

I’ve been struck by dwarf fever! In an attempt to be rid of it, I’ll be speedpainting (well, attempting to speed paint) the Company from The Hobbit, using official photos as my refs.
First up is Bifur, who has an axe in his head and is a-okay with it :D
I’ve already noticed a lot of flaws, but I’ve decided that as soon as I save out the .jpeg version I’m not allowed to go back and fix anything. Hopefully it’ll force me to be more observant in the future…
